Travel Log #1: Assignment 1.3

To create my Creative Leadership Metrics Dashboard I relied on standards from personal experience. Because I had a plethora of bad bosses to draw from, I learned how not to be a bad leader. The list of standards I came up with reflects the qualities most of those poor leaders lacked. Little did I l know I would rate myself by same standards. Let’s see how I stack up:

Accountability 4

I exceed this standards ad nauseam. I take on ownership of everything I am even remotely involved in. Sadly, I find a way to feel I could’ve done something differently to bring upon an even better outcome as if sole responsibility lies with me.

Commitment 4

I go all in. It takes little effort to commit wholeheartedly.  I uphold high standards for myself and others. When the commitment fails to be mutual or productive in nature I move on. But only after I give all diplomatic solutions a chance.

Compassion/ Nurture 4

I am an empath. The innate ability to perceive others feelings and imbalances affects my equilibrium. Because of countless times I was vulnerable and alone I made it my priority to never treat others as if they were invisible. I often reach out to others when I sense they are down.

Competence 3

I am a T shaped personality with a broad set of skills and knowledge of fashion and manufacturing. My thinking and practical experiences extend across many related disciplines. This allows me to link up perspectives from different specialties that result in unique solutions. I am seen as an authentic leader. However being authentic in my current field is often perceived as direct or threatening. So I have some learning and teaching to do.

Courage 4 and Decision Making 3

The unique life path I was on forced me to be resilience and adaptable. The drive to face difficult and painful situations with vigor is at my core. It is out of fear, not due to lack of it that makes me go head in first. No matter what is on the other side of every problem, staying in limbo is not an option for me.

Emotional Intelligence 3 and Fairness 3

I have an ability to recognize and monitor my own emotions as well as those of others.  I am able to distinguish differences between feelings and facts, and guide my thinking and actions accordingly.

Integrity 2 and Interpersonal Skills 2

I am very self-aware and understand that the way I carry myself (directly and upfront) often overshadows my credibility and undermines the value of my achievements. Being different is a strength and a disability, especially in the workplace.  I recognize the need to learn how to communicate in the way my audience can relate to me, will help me bridge the gap and take others on the journey. However I also need to find that balance of staying true to myself and my core values.

Transparency 4

I am an open book.
